CHASE

Community Health Advancement and Student Engagement (CHASE) is a program that aims to improve health through education, mentorship and community-based action.

Debating Team

Debating affords students the opportunity to test their awareness of the issues that face our community, as well as their public speaking and improvisational skills.

This involves participating within a team to tackle a topic from either an affirmative or negative point of view, competing against other schools within the Essendon Region.

Students who participate in debating often find it is of enormous benefit to both the development of their leadership skills and towards their progress in subjects such as English.

Formal debates are held 5 times a year, with the opportunity for successful teams to continue competing in state playoffs. All students who are interested in being part of debating at Copperfield should speak to their home campus’ debating coordinator.

Environment Leadership

Students from Copperfield College have worked for many years to develop and maintain an environment that minimises the use of power, water and gas. They have also assisted in the creation of campus gardens and represented the college at Kids Teaching Kids Conferences for Melbourne Water and Brimbank Council. In April, students from Kings Park and Sydenham Campuses came together to work on their 2015 presentation at the Kids Teaching Kids conference. They were provided with valuable information from Richard Wood, the Education Manager of KTK. This session led to great conversation and planning for the work to come before the conferences later this year.
