Remote learning will begin on Wednesday April 15.

As per the Premier’s media release, all staff and students who can stay at home should stay at home.  Any exceptions to this will be considered carefully via consultation with families.

Teachers will be planning on April 14. Students will need access to a device and a space to work in. We are also planning to use a form of video conferencing to replicate classroom interactions.  To do this, all students need access to a device that is not their phone. If you need assistance with this please email the college and let us know your situation so we can arrange a no cost loan of a device for the duration of the shutdown.  Similarly, families who do not have access to the internet at home should also contact the college via our college email copperfield.co@edumail.vic.gov.au

All classes will run as they are scheduled on Compass.  The beauty of this is that families can also see what the expectations are. Students should log on to Compass and click on their class for that period to find all relevant instructions, documents and links to video conferences.  DET wants us to use video conferencing so the learning can be more like the classroom with its inbuilt relationships and to promote wellbeing.  Please encourage your child to participate positively, respecting the privacy of others and protecting yours.

Remote learning instructions for students, are on Compass, which will also help you know what is expected.   Please read it with your children.  You will also find a ‘how to’ guide for the video conferencing system we are using (Webex). We have scheduled in some extra break times to account for the fact that we are expecting students to be on screens for a significant part of the day.  Those details are also on compass.  You can expect regular phone calls from your child’s Home Group or Mentor Teacher to check in on how things are going.

VCE and VCAL parents, please reassure your children that DET and VCAA will ensure their year will not be wasted and that they should work as hard as ever.  The Delahey Campus Principals and Campus Leaders will communicate with them directly as more details about SACs and Learning Outcomes are developed.

Common Assessment Tasks will continue to be set and end of semester reports will be written in the usual time frame.  Parent Teacher Student Interviews will be conducted over the phone but appointments need to be made via Compass – they are open now.

It is very important for us all to remain positive and focused and keep up social connections even if it is via social media.  Please encourage your child to include physical activity in their day as well, and check in on their wellbeing.  Wellbeing information and support can be found here.

If you need to contact the school, the best route is via Compass. Please contact your child’s teachers, Home Group or Mentor Teacher by clicking the ‘contact teachers’ button on your child’s compass timetable page and then choosing the appropriate teacher.
Campus Principals, Team Leaders and Campus Leader details are also available on compass. To contact these staff members. search the relevant names on Compass and email them that way.
