Students have been invited to sign up to writing workshops in this time of remote learning. 100 Story Building (a centre for young writers in Melbourne)  is inviting students from Copperfield College  who would like to create and share their stories of ‘what just happened here’- in regards to the current situation of isolation. See below for details. Students can sign up using the link and 100 Story Building will contact them directly with the joining information.
Students who are interested in writing should definitely consider signing up for this opportunity as the end result will be a published book with a collection of writing by students from around the country!

The registration asks for a preferred day, but the workshop details are set:
Mondays, 4-5:30pm, starting 25 May
Week one – Ephemera – exploring bits and pieces of thoughts to use in writing.
Week two/three – Poetry/Non-fiction – TBDecided, users choice.
Week four/five – Fiction – Future-focused
Week six – Review, polish, submit any piece.

During this time of isolation 100 Story Building is joining with writing centres across the country to work with students to compile a world first – a collection of writing that investigates the experiences of young people in Australia as they live through the current situation.

Through online workshops we’ll help students to complete pieces of writing that investigate the challenges, the unexpected joys, the boredom, worries and hopes of these unusual times. Young people from across the country will share what is important to them, what they discover and how they would like the world to change.

Workshops will be delivered in after-school workshops, and to primary and high school students. All the writing centres involved will create workshops specifically designed to prompt students to consider aspects of the current situation. This will include both live video workshops and opportunities for participants to use specially developed resources independently.

The result will be a published book containing an exciting collection of various texts: fiction, non fiction, poetry, lists and ephemera, letters of support and protest, imaginings of the future.  A perfect time capsule of this strange time.

Sound interesting? Fill in the registration form and we’ll be in touch.
